The Blessing of Blossoms

Every year Ed and I get out into the orchards while they're in full bloom. We got married in the orchard with the idea in mind that the orchard will celebrate our new life together with shimmering blossoms every year. Acre after acre of flowering trees in whites and pinks. Breathtaking. Wandering around the rows last year, I had an epiphany to paint a collection in honor of the blossoms and share my work with you there, among these specific branches and blooms.

I’ve never experienced more delight in anything I’ve ever painted. The tiny works in this collection started just as ideas for the larger paintings, but I fell in love with them. They’re like little blossoms themselves. They feel just like spring in the orchards. The larger pieces surprised me even more–some a bit more realistic than I usually paint and others more abstract.

Both the words and the paint flowed with the joy of this series and I'm working on the final details of the accompanying book to honor this collection. I shared the work with esteemed composer, Walter Anderson, from Virginia who was inspired to graciously compose an entire 15 track album for this collection. He’s flying in to celebrate with us!

There’s something special here in this dirt. On this hill. I pray that you can feel these trees and this lake and this sky in this collection. These trees make the best fruit. Take a sensory art walk through the orchard and bless the blossoms and new life!

The collection is finished, but it won’t fully bloom until I share it with you. Join me for The Blessing of Blossoms art experience where I’ll share the collection and book release party on the evening of May 16. You won’t want to miss it. This collection is special and these beauties won’t last long.
