Shared Becoming

Walking through the woods, you can hear the soft crunch of leaves underfoot.  Each step is a reminder that transformation is unfolding everywhere, not in a single moment but in a shared, layered rhythm.

It strikes me how the land changes together in a wave.
How no tree turns alone.
How no hillside transforms in isolation.

Your becoming is connected to mine.

I’ve been thinking about how true this is in our lives as well. We often imagine transformation as something personal, individual, internal. But becoming is rarely solitary. It happens through stories exchanged over time—yours shaping me, mine shaping you—through shared experiences, gentle influences, quiet encouragements, and the subtle ways we mirror hope back to each other.

We grow in conversation with the people who walk beside us.

Some are with us for only a season, others for many years, but each contributes something to the way we soften, the way we rise, the way we learn to trust the path beneath our feet. Even a single story told at the right moment can shift the direction of a life. A moment of honesty can open a new way forward. Someone else’s courage can awaken our own.

Becoming is a collective act.

The faith we carry is never ours alone—it’s held together, strengthened by community, expanded by shared wisdom and shared wondering. We borrow hope from each other. We lend belief. We anchor one another when the wind picks up. Like the trees on a hillside, our roots intertwine underground, creating strength we cannot see but always feel. My work is shaped by  the stories of others–their color, their courage, their questions woven into the canvas.

Maybe you’ve noticed this in your own story—how a conversation, a friendship, a shared vulnerability, or a moment of being fully seen shifted something inside you. Perhaps someone else's becoming sparked the beginning of your own. Or maybe you are doing that work for someone right now, without even knowing it.

Who is helping you become?
And whose becoming might be quietly connected to yours?

May we be reminded that transformation is never a solitary journey, and that our becoming is interwoven with a beautiful, collective story.
